Marriage Preparation at Immaculata

Marriage Preparation at Immaculata

For decades now couples preparing for marriage in the Church have received a great deal of helpful advice and support from participating in a weekend retreat entitled Engaged Encounter. The weekend is sponsored by Catholic Engaged Encounter, a national organization which oversees the weekends and constantly updates them to meet the ever-changing needs of couples.

The weekend is offered by two experienced couples—a senior and junior couple—and a priest. It begins typically on Friday evening at 8 PM and ends about 1 PM on Sunday. Areas touched upon are: Communication, Marriage, Sacrament. The process used during the weekend provides ample opportunity for each of the couples to spend quality time together discussing the important topics developed in the presentations.

Engaged Encounter weekends are open to Catholic couples and to couples in which one partner is of a different religious tradition. Couples benefit most from the weekend if they plan on attending well in advance of their wedding date, preferably at least six months ahead of time.

Upcoming EE weekends are scheduled at Immaculata as follows: February 27-March 1, April 17-19, and October 9-11. Early registration is recommended. For information or registration, contact the EE coordinators for the Norwich diocese: Frank and MaryAnne Pendola, 51 Judson Ave., Mystic, CT 06355-2107. Tel.: (860) 536-8665.
